Beastro is a food-based fantasy adventure set in Palo Pori, a peaceful village of artisans and tastemakers surrounded by a protective wall. Beyond that wall, ravenous monsters have claimed the land and now threaten to devour this last pocket of hope. Players take on the role of Panko, a young chef running the local eatery after his teacher goes missing. When a mysterious visitor arrives bearing warnings about the dangers outside, Panko must step up to manage the restaurant while feeding the Caretakers, brave adventurers sent out into the wilds to fight back the encroaching darkness. Preserving peace, it turns out, starts in the kitchen.
Palo Pori runs on freshness. Players gather ingredients and resources, care for animals, grow their own fruit and vegetables, and forage for wild herbs to expand their menu. Cooking plays out through mini-games where chopping, flipping and sizzling produce dishes for the townsfolk. Keeping patrons happy means experimenting with ingredients, developing new meals, progressing through a skill tree and adjusting decor to boost the establishment's appeal. The restaurant is as much a project as it is a plot device, growing from a modest eatery into something that reflects the player's choices.
The Caretakers add a strategic layer to every meal. Crafting thoughtful dishes and balancing flavour profiles builds their decks, with each ingredient unlocking a card they carry into battle.
Once fed, Caretakers venture beyond the wall to confront monsters, recounting their journeys through charming puppet theatre sequences when they return. Combat is turn-based and deck-driven. Players outplay monsters by matching their flavour magic or neutralising it with balancing cards, while enhancing cards power up moves. Ingredient effects can put enemies to sleep or blow away their cards, but the monsters carry special abilities of their own, and careless play gets punished.
Beastro weaves together restaurant management, farming, cooking mini-games and card-based combat into a single loop where every dish served shapes the fight for Palo Pori's survival.
