Biped 2, the co-op puzzle platformer developed by NEXT Studios and PlayJoy Studios, has received a major content update on Steam alongside the introduction of peer-to-peer online matchmaking. Published by META Publishing, the game is also discounted to $10.99 on Steam from April 1 to April 15, with a further 10% off the bundle that includes both Biped and Biped 2. The update will arrive on console in the coming weeks.

The game follows Aku and Sila, two small bipedal robots who previously spent their time reactivating beacons across Earth. This time around, a strange signal from a distant planet pulls them off world entirely. Someone out there is calling for help, and the pair set out across the galaxy to answer it. The setup is simple and earnest in a way that suits the tone: tiny robots doing big things, with the game leaning into that contrast without winking at the camera. New characters appear on the alien planet they're exploring, including elemental creatures that factor directly into the challenges ahead.

Those challenges have been substantially reworked. All 17 levels now feature overhauled puzzle mechanics, drawing from a surprisingly wide pool of inspiration. Some take cues from old Japanese game shows, others lean on classic logic puzzles, and a few throw players into chaotic games of tag with the elementals. The variety matters because the puzzles play differently depending on whether you're solo or in co-op. Playing alone tests your own coordination and problem solving, while playing with others demands communication, and the game is built to make that communication feel necessary rather than optional. A dedicated pair mechanic lets two players merge into a single unit, with one controlling the legs and the other handling the arms. Coordinating that split is where the real friction lives, the kind that's funny when it goes wrong and satisfying when it clicks.

Movement has expanded too. The original's signature leg-by-leg walking returns, but new options layer on top of it. Hang gliders let players soar and leave patterns in the air behind them, grappling hooks open up vertical traversal across ledges and gaps, and sliding, a fan favourite from the first game, is back in force. These aren't just cosmetic additions. Each movement type feeds into the puzzle design, giving the developers more tools to build challenges around.

Biped 2 supports single player, two-player co-op, and a new four-player co-op mode, all playable online or locally. The peer-to-peer matchmaking added in this update addresses one of the most requested features, making it easier to organize online sessions. The existing Friend's Pass carries over as well, letting two people play together online with only one copy of the game. For players who exhaust the 17 levels, Steam Workshop support lets them build and share their own, extending the game well beyond its built-in content.

The game's reputation for difficulty is part of its identity, and this update leans into that while also broadening the appeal. The puzzles are harder in new ways, but the variety keeps any single type of challenge from wearing thin. Aku and Sila can be dressed up in collectible hats bought with in-game treasures, a small touch that reinforces the lighthearted spirit running through the whole thing. Even when the puzzles are tying your brain in knots, the two little robots at the centre of it all keep the mood warm.
