Cairn is a realistic climbing simulation where you ascend Mount Kami, a summit that has never been reached. You play as Aava, a professional climber embarking on the ascent of a lifetime, placing hands and feet on holds with intuitive controls while adapting your posture, effort and balance. If you're not careful, you will fall.
The mountain opens itself to you completely. You are free to climb anywhere, reading the rock face from the ground and planning your route before committing to the wall. Problems emerge mid-climb as you navigate difficult sections, and since you can climb on anything, the path you choose becomes yours alone. Each wall feels like a boss fight, a thrilling challenge for those eager to test themselves, though difficulty can be adjusted to customise the experience.
Survival demands more than technique. The long ascent requires managing resources like pitons, chalk and finger tape alongside food, water and medicine. Bivouacs offer rest while exploration yields what you need to continue upward. Along the journey, Aava meets unexpected companions and hears from those left on the ground, discovering the mountain's history and deciding what she is willing to sacrifice to achieve her dream.
Cairn comes from the makers of Furi and Haven, with music and sound design by the team behind Limbo, Inside, Control and Cocoon, and art and story by comic book artist Mathieu Bablet.
