Chefs Arena is a couch party co-op game where cooking and combat collide in arenas ruled by a hungry King. Teams of one or two face off to hunt ingredients, prepare dishes and deliver them for points, but the path from raw ingredient to royal plate is anything but straightforward. Rival chefs can steal your prepared food, sabotage your recipes by tossing unwanted ingredients into your pot or simply strike you down while you scramble to cook. It's eat or be eaten.
Each match presents up to three different recipes to complete, each carrying different rarities and point values. Players hunt for ingredients across the arena while fending off enemies and pulling off trick shots to excite the crowd. The base controls are simple enough for families and groups of friends to pick up quickly, but advanced moves like dashing, throwing ingredients and laying traps for opponents add tactical depth for those who want it. In co-op 2v2 mode players can split responsibilities with one chef cooking while the other prepares for delivery, or they can pass ingredients between each other to outpace the opposition.
The arenas themselves shape how each match plays out. A dungeon, a cherry blossom setting and a kitchen in the clouds each offer unique features and interactive elements that can speed up delivery or take out an enemy in one stroke. Creatures roam these spaces too and they might eat your food before it ever reaches the King. Nothing stays clean for long either. Exploding cooking stations, thrown ingredients and hunted monsters leave every kitchen in chaos.
The King sits at the centre of it all, travelling across his realm to feast on the finest dishes. His servant announces the cooking tournaments and commands a fake audience that boos and cheers depending on how players perform. Delivering plates earns his favour and his points, but making him angry is something to avoid. Chefs Arena offers both online and offline play across its 1v1 and 2v2 modes, and the arenas keep expanding with new gimmicks, enemies and ingredients still to come.
