DOOM: The Dark Ages is a single-player first-person shooter that serves as a prequel to DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal, pulling the series back through time to a medieval war against Hell. You play as the DOOM Slayer, bound to serve as the super weapon of gods and kings, fighting demon hordes across battlefields soaked in blood and fire. This is dark fantasy colliding with science fiction, powered by the latest idTech engine.

The combat here is grounded and vicious, a return to the stand-and-fight brutality the original DOOM built its name on. You'll shred through demons with returning favourites like the Super Shotgun alongside new weapons designed to chew through bone, including the Shield Saw, a versatile tool for cutting paths through Hell's legions. The battlefields are demon-infested and unforgiving, demanding you hold your ground rather than retreat.

id Software has built their largest and most expansive levels to date. Ruined castles, epic battlefields, dark forests, ancient hellscapes and worlds beyond all wait to be explored, each hiding mystery, challenges and rewards in their shadows. The story follows the Slayer's rage as Hell's leader seeks to destroy him and become the only one that is feared. This is the creation of a legend, the tale of how one warrior turned the tide of an entire war against the forces of Hell.
