Elite Dangerous is a massively multiplayer space simulation set across the entire Milky Way, reconstructed at full galactic scale using real astronomical data. Four hundred billion star systems form the backdrop, each with stars, planets, moons, asteroid belts and black holes rendered at their true proportions. This is a galaxy where players chart courses through systems no other Commander has ever visited, where the narrative evolves based on collective action, and where the distance between one edge of known space and the other is measured in something closer to awe than hours.
Over 35 distinct spacecraft are available to command, ranging from lightweight exploration vessels to massive combat behemoths. Every component, weapon and optional module can be customised to match a particular playstyle, whether that means outfitting a ship for deep space surveying or arming it to the teeth for interstellar conflict. Players can hunt, mine, smuggle and trade across this connected galaxy, dropping onto the surface of unfamiliar worlds in a Surface Recon Vehicle to explore terrain firsthand. Acquiring wealth and building diverse ship collections drives much of the long game.
The galaxy responds to what its players do. Community Goal events draw Commanders together around pivotal moments that can permanently alter the state of entire systems. Powerplay lets players align with a galactic superpower and reshape the interstellar landscape through means as varied as hacking starport advertisements or launching assaults on Stronghold Carriers. The System Colonisation mechanic goes further still, placing the power to claim and develop star systems directly in players' hands, building trade hubs and new ports of operations from nothing.
Solo mode offers the connected galaxy as a lone experience, while Open Play drops pilots into unpredictable encounters with other players across the world. Somewhere between those extremes, Wings allow up to four friends to fly together, and Squadrons gather larger groups of like-minded Commanders to share the scope of what this galaxy holds. In a universe built on galactic superpowers and interstellar war, every pilot faced could become an ally or an enemy.
