SCP – Containment Breach is a free survival horror game set inside a containment site operated by The SCP Foundation, a secret organization dedicated to containing and researching anomalous artifacts and entities that threaten the normality of the world. You play as a Class D test subject, one of the Foundation's disposable human guinea pigs. Shortly after receiving your first assignment, the facility suffers a massive containment breach, leaving you alone in the darkness with escaped entities roaming the halls. The goal is simple: make it out alive.
The primary threat stalking the facility is SCP-173, an animate concrete sculpture that kills all living things on sight. It moves toward its victims at a speed of several feet in a single blink of an eye, snapping necks with irresistible strength and lethal precision. Its one weakness is that it freezes in place as long as someone is looking at it. This is where the game's defining mechanic takes hold: your character blinks regularly whether you want them to or not, and in the vicinity of SCP-173 those involuntary blinks carry fatal consequences. Survival becomes a matter of managing something most games never ask you to think about — keeping your eyes open.
The facility itself shifts between playthroughs thanks to a procedurally generated map, meaning no two runs unfold the same way. Decontamination gas forces you to blink faster, locked doors demand keycards with sufficient security clearance or specific access codes, and timer-switch-controlled doors add pressure of their own. SCP-173 is far from the only escaped entity wandering the corridors, and several other SCPs stand between you and any hope of escape. Beyond survival, you can search the facility for documents and clues to piece together what led to the breach, even attempting to do your part in fixing the situation.
