Forge of the Fae is a turn-based RPG set in a world drawn from 1800s Ireland and Celtic folklore, coming to PC and consoles in 2027. Published by Deck13 Spotlight and developed by Datadyne, the game follows Fiora, a young inventor pulled into a conflict between humans and fae as an ancient power stirs and people begin vanishing without explanation.

The combat takes its cues from classic JRPGs but layers on systems designed to interlock. Skills and spells can be paired together to produce combo abilities, and the ARC Crystal System lets players align their magic and skills to build a personalised battle style. Adrenaline Surges fire off special abilities without consuming a turn, adding a tactical wrinkle to fights that are meant to start approachable and scale into genuine strategic challenges against tougher foes and bosses. Elemental weaknesses across fire, wind, water, earth, nature, and arcane magic give each encounter a puzzle quality, rewarding players who experiment with how the systems connect. Outside of combat, puzzles scattered through the world encourage exploration and pay off with powerful items and hidden lore.

Fiora is more than her combat role. She's an inventor, and her Mechanical Faerie companion can be upgraded to unlock paths, reveal secrets, and channel Fae magic. The world around her is in crisis: a miners' strike has spiralled into violence, a Mining Company has hired mercenaries to crush the unrest, and in the chaos people are disappearing one by one. Fiora's search for answers pulls her through this mess, and the cast she meets along the way each bring their own playstyle to the party. Decisions carry weight throughout, shaping alliances, uncovering truths, and steering the story toward different outcomes.

The tension between the human and the fae sits at the centre of everything. This is a world where ancient forces and industrial conflict exist side by side, where a young woman's quest for the truth runs headlong into powers she doesn't fully understand. The mystery of the disappearances threads through a larger conflict, and the choices players make determine how Fiora navigates both the political unrest and the supernatural forces pressing in around her.
The pixel art style blends retro charm with modern design sensibility, and the tone leans into wonder and danger in equal measure. A new trailer released alongside the game's alpha build, which has been sent to Kickstarter backers, showcases boss fights, magical attacks, and a first listen of the combat music. Forge of the Fae is a game built around the idea that every system should feed into every other, from crystal alignment to combo abilities to the story branches that ripple out from each decision Fiora makes.
