Hard West 2, the turn-based tactics game from Ice Code Games and publishers Good Shepherd Entertainment and Klabater, is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The game has been available on PC since its initial release, and the console announcement brings its particular brand of occult gunslinging to a wider audience.

Combat runs on a system designed to reward aggression. The Bravado mechanic grants additional action points each time you kill an enemy, letting you chain one companion's actions into the next and string together sequences that clear entire groups in a single turn. It transforms what could be cautious, cover-to-cover play into something closer to a puzzle, where the question isn't whether you can survive the fight but whether you can find the right order of kills to keep your momentum alive. Each member of your posse carries unique abilities shaped by mysterious playing cards you collect throughout the game. Building poker hands from these cards unlocks new capabilities, while gear ranges from bigger guns and explosives to trinkets and provisions. Fights don't stay static either. Environments shift dynamically, with encounters built around horseback chases, train holdups, and other scenarios that keep the tactical terrain moving beneath you.

Ice Code Games, a Warsaw-based studio with experience spanning indie to AAA production, built Hard West 2 around the intersection of deep tactical mechanics and distinctive settings. Good Shepherd Entertainment, whose publishing catalogue includes Monster Train and John Wick Hex, handles the publishing side. The score comes from composer Jason Graves, whose previous work on Dead Space and Until Dawn speaks to the kind of tonal territory this game occupies.

You play as Gin Carter, a legendary outlaw who sets out to rob a vessel known as the Ghost Train. What begins as a heist quickly turns into something far more personal when Carter and his crew lose their souls in the process. The mission shifts from gold to reclamation, and the posse you assemble to chase down that train includes not just gunslingers but teleporting witches and other supernatural beings. Responsibility for this group falls to you, and the choices you make about who to trust and what to ask of them carry weight. Loyalty Points unlock new skills for companions who believe in your leadership, but poor decisions test their commitment and can cost you those advantages.

The world stretches across diverse landscapes of the Weird West, from snow-covered vistas to frontier towns, all threaded through with a darkness that blends American frontier folklore with outright occult horror. Demons share the land with outlaws, and revolver bullets fly alongside dark magic drawn from forgotten tales. The tone sits in that space where Western grit meets supernatural dread: a merciless world where survival demands brutal choices and the consequences stick. Your posse wanders these lands between fights, and the journey itself reveals more about the characters you're travelling with.

Hard West 2 asks you to think like a gunslinger and plan like a chess player, chaining kills across shifting battlefields while managing a crew of outlaws and witches whose loyalty depends on how well you lead them. Every poker hand you build from those mysterious cards reshapes what your posse can do, and every fight is a chance to push the Bravado system further, finding one more kill in the chain before your action points run dry.
