Last Flag is a third-person team shooter that rebuilds Capture the Flag from the ground up, wrapping the classic format inside a fictional gameshow where contestants compete for glory. Each match opens with a 60-second preparation phase where teams scramble to find a hiding spot for their flag before the action kicks off. Once that timer expires, both sides push across the map simultaneously: hunting for the enemy's flag while defending their own.

Finding the flag is only half the battle. Once a player grabs it and plants it back at their home base, a frantic 60-second defense phase begins. The opposing team throws everything they have at reclaiming it — swirling tornadoes, bazooka blasts and hailstorms of serrated feathers all converging on the flag's position.

Each contestant in the roster carries unique firepower and signature abilities that can be combined with teammates' powers to create unexpected synergies. An in-match economy lets players spend cash on upgrades during a round, shaping how they contribute. Some might invest in raw combat power, others might specialize as dedicated flag runners. The game frames these choices as paths to stardom rather than rigid class roles, encouraging players to chase MVP moments on their own terms.

The battlegrounds themselves span a ghost town nestled in a forest canyon, a snow-blanketed mountain village and ancient temples infused with dark magic. Each map is expansive and handcrafted, filled with winding caves, towering ruins and waterfalls concealing spaces worth investigating. The developers hint that some details scattered across these environments might seem slightly out of place, though what that means remains deliberately unexplained.

Last Flag is not yet available, with a release currently set for PC. For a mode that most shooters treat as an afterthought, building an entire game around it with gameshow theatrics and ability-driven teamplay is a pointed bet that Capture the Flag deserves the spotlight.
