LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a narrative-led action-adventure from TT Games that traces Bruce Wayne's transformation into Batman, beginning with his training under The League of Shadows and following him as he rises to become Gotham City's protector. Rather than dropping players into an established hero's routine, this one starts at the origin, charting the path from a young Bruce Wayne to the caped figure who builds a family of allies and confronts an escalating roster of villains.

The family takes shape across the story. Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl all join Bruce's cause as the narrative progresses. On the other side of the conflict stands Batman's Rogue's Gallery, with The Joker, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy and Bane among the threats that grow more dangerous as the story unfolds. TT Games is building this as a story-driven experience first, letting the LEGO framework carry a structured narrative rather than simply stringing together set pieces.

Combat is built around fluid combos, stealth techniques and detective skills. Batman can shift between direct confrontation and quieter approaches as he takes on crime across Gotham's streets and rooftops. The open world itself is designed for movement, with grappling, gliding and driving all feeding into traversal across an immersive Gotham City. Iconic landmarks anchor the map — Arkham Asylum, Ace Chemicals and Wayne Tower among them — while crimes, challenges and secrets are scattered throughout for players willing to explore beyond the main path.

Vehicles play a significant role in that exploration. Players can command a range of Batmobiles and Batcycles, driving through Gotham's open streets. The Deluxe Edition's Legacy Collection bundles three themed packs that each include a distinct Batmobile alongside seven character suits and Batcave customization props. The Arkham Trilogy Pack, Batman Beyond Pack and Party Music Pack each draw from different corners of Batman's history, offering over thirty items at launch that reshape how the cast looks and what they drive.

The Batcave itself serves as a customizable space, with prop sets from each themed pack letting players reshape their headquarters. Every pack touches the Batcave alongside the suits and vehicles, treating it as a persistent home base worth personalizing.

Beyond the base game, a separate expansion called the Mayhem Collection shifts perspective entirely. Players take control of The Joker and Harley Quinn in a new story mission that begins with a breakout from Arkham Asylum, flipping the narrative from protector to chaos agent. An accompanying Mayhem Mode lets those two characters loose on the streets of Gotham City, while a Sinister Pack provides villain-themed suits for the original playable characters along with another Batmobile and Batcave prop set. The expansion reframes the game's world through the eyes of its antagonists, giving players a reason to return to familiar ground with very different intentions.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight has not yet released and is still in development at TT Games. With its origin-story structure, open-world Gotham and a combat system built around combining stealth with direct action, the game is positioning itself as a more narratively ambitious entry in the LEGO catalogue. Whether players are grappling above Arkham Asylum or tearing through Gotham's streets in a Batmobile, the promise is a Batman game that earns its legacy one brick at a time.
