The cold presses in before the monsters do. LIFE EFFECT Survival drops you into a planet already broken by years of alien war, where the climate has shifted, wildlife has mutated beyond recognition, and the remnants of humanity cling to scattered fortifications that don't always see eye to eye. This is a first or third person survival game built from shooter, RPG, and horror elements, developed by LIFE EFFECT and published by EFFECT STUDIO.

Combat runs on tactical shooting where upgrades shape your fighting style, but the real spine of the game is what you build between the firefights. Crafting covers weapons, armor, equipment, and companions, including robots, cyborgs, and drones that scout territory or hold the line alongside you. The companion system stretches further than mechanical allies: you can find eggs, steal cubs, extract monster DNA, and grow creatures through a genetic laboratory to produce hybrids. Animals can be tamed in the wild. Mercenaries can be hired if you'd rather trust a human at your back. Every companion levels up alongside you, learning new abilities and pulling weight in combat. Character progression follows RPG lines, letting you develop your hero and enhance gear, drones, turrets, and robots to match how you want to play. Dialogue choices and branching paths influence the plot, so the shooting and building sit inside a structure where your decisions carry forward.

Your base is an underground bunker somewhere in the forest, initially crawling with monsters. Clearing it out and claiming it as your own opens up construction of crafting machines, laboratories, incubators, and storage modules for resources, companions, and vehicles. Fortifying the bunker means building turrets, reinforcing walls, and strengthening entrances against waves of enemies. When you leave to fight or explore, mercenaries and pets can be sent out to gather resources automatically, keeping the shelter productive in your absence. The bunker lives whether you're there or not.

The world outside is hostile in layers. Alien particles and a virus have mutated both animals and humans, producing powerful creatures and massive beings called Titans. Alien life forms and their technology roam the landscape alongside enemy human factions, each fortification pushing its own goals and fighting others for alien artifacts that promise evolutionary superiority. Surviving civilians go about their lives while enemy groups operate with their own agendas. The longer you play, the more the world shifts around you, generating new events, encounters, quests, and situations that accumulate over time rather than sitting static.

Underneath the shooting and crafting sits a premise about what happens to a species pushed to the edge. Humanity united its armies and hit back hard enough to survive, but years of war reshaped the planet itself. Extraterrestrial technologies were salvaged and repurposed into medicines, weapons, vehicles, and robots. The war didn't end so much as evolve, with human factions now turning on each other over alien artifacts while mutated horrors press in from every direction. Your role is to help peaceful fortifications survive, collecting resources and building the best gear you can while fighting off enemy forces and preventing further invasions from offworld creatures.

Quests, NPC stories, and interactive world events layer across the survival loop, with plot threads and character encounters woven through exploration. Horror isn't a separate mode but a persistent quality: the world bearing down with tension where every rustle behind you could matter. LIFE EFFECT Survival is available in Early Access on PC.
