Low Earth Orbit Adventures is a space simulation set in the near future, placing players in the pilot seat of their own craft floating above Earth at a time when the space just beyond our atmosphere has become a bustling frontier of science, commerce and diplomacy. The population above the planet has grown past just a few astronauts. It's still not a large number, but now they need services like police, doctors and mechanics. That's where you come in.
Players start as the sole employee of their own space company with a single asset: a standard Friendly Low Earth Orbit Tug, or FLEOT. This hardy and overpowered little ship is rated to operate between 400km and 800km above Earth but can push as low as 280km and as high as 1800km. It is specially designed to travel short distances and perform complex manoeuvres with a variety of attachments. The game calls it the Swiss Army Knife of space. Missions range from search and rescue to orbital boosts, deliveries, inspections, diplomatic incidents and demolition jobs. Players manoeuvre with Newtonian controls into position, attach the appropriate tool to an international docking adapter and complete the scenario at hand. Over time the goal is to build up a company, buy out competitors and eventually construct a personal space station for retirement.
The setting draws from real world space industry history. Stations, space planes and docking adapters are inspired or evolved from actual designs including the International Space Station, SpaceX's Starship, the James Webb telescope, Orbital Reef and numerous proposals for a second generation shuttle. The game aims for what the developer describes as "realism lite." Physics are Newtonian in the local theatre and stations follow basic orbital mechanics, but distances are compressed and propulsion is nearly unlimited. Fuel is not a concern and the Reaction Control System thrusters maintain spacecraft orientation automatically unless deliberately switched off. The intent is a simulation that stays accessible and relaxing rather than punishing.
There are no guns, no sky beams, no magical warp gates. Just Earth from orbit and people who need help. Low Earth Orbit Adventures is currently in development with a 2026 release planned, and everything shown so far comes from an alpha build still taking shape.
