R.A.T.: Human Error – Episode One is a point and click adventure set in the aftermath of global catastrophe where humanity has retreated underground only to find that survival brought its own horrors. You play as a child, sick like everyone else, taken to a hidden facility deep below the surface for reasons you don't understand. Something is wrong here, and your mother is waiting somewhere above.
This is a world hollowed out by war, a fractured shell where the remnants of humanity cling to existence in subterranean spaces. A sickness has spread through the survivors, warping minds and twisting bodies, sparing no one. The facility you find yourself in is surreal and strange, its corridors hiding secrets that reveal themselves only to those who search carefully. You explore by clicking through rooms, examining objects and uncovering hidden paths that might lead you closer to escape. The characters you encounter are varied and unsettling, and your conversations with them shape what you learn and who you can trust.
When dialogue and exploration aren't enough, you crawl through dark vents to move between areas. The Rat Maze is a skill based mini game with multiple paths through its cramped passages. Your decisions throughout carry weight, shaping the narrative, unlocking secrets and determining which of the multiple endings you reach.
