Pompeii: The Legacy is a city building and dynasty management game set two decades after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The city lies in ruin, and as the head of a Roman family you take on the task of rebuilding it from the ground up while steering your bloodline through the volatile currents of imperial politics.
The population is divided among patricians, plebeians and slaves, each carrying their own ambitions and grudges that shape how the city develops. Every street, forum, market and aqueduct you construct influences not just Pompeii's recovery but your family's fortunes across generations. Housing, temples and arenas serve your citizens' needs while trade routes stretching across the Empire feed the economy. Markets shift over time, demanding constant attention to keep resources flowing and your position secure.
Leadership here spans decades rather than moments. You shape laws, negotiate trade rights and forge alliances through marriage or contract, securing favour with emperors while outwitting rival families vying for the same influence. Your family's reach can extend far beyond Pompeii's walls, but every decision carries weight that echoes forward through the generations. The game layers in active and passive bonuses through Family Bonuses, Research and Development, and Imperial Privileges, with two main research branches splitting between Technology and Philosophy to give your dynasty different paths to power.
Not every threat arrives in armour. Earthquakes, fires, famine, plagues and political sabotage can strike without warning, testing your ability to hold a city together when the ground itself might betray you again. Co-financed by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, Pompeii: The Legacy asks whether you can rebuild what Vesuvius destroyed and keep it standing against enemies who shake your hand before they strike.
