Remothered: Red Nun's Legacy arrives later this year on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, closing out the survival horror trilogy that began with Remothered: Tormented Fathers back in 2018. Announced at the Future Games Show Spring Showcase by Italian developer and publisher Stormind Games, this third and final entry promises a conclusion to the series' overarching story while functioning as a standalone experience for players unfamiliar with the first two games. It's already available to wishlist on Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG.com.

The game blends classic survival horror with stealth and psychological horror, built around mechanics centred on perception, hypnosis and environmental manipulation. Players explore a convent called the Cristo Morente, searching for clues and key items, solving puzzles to open new areas. The central threat comes from Stalkers, murderous enemies that hunt you through the environment, forcing you into hiding, evasion and, in critical moments, direct confrontation. Hypnosis powers let you read objects to reveal forgotten memories, expose concealed passages and reshape your understanding of the space around you. It's a game about reading the environment as much as surviving it, where observation feeds directly into both puzzle solving and escape.

Stormind Games has built a track record in horror since founding the Remothered series. The studio developed 2024's A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead with publisher Saber Interactive, and in 2025 co-developed Mafia: The Old Country alongside Hangar 13. Cannata described the decision to return to Remothered as driven by responsibility toward the community. "We couldn't accept seeing Remothered fade away," he said. "We decided to make this game out of a strong sense of respect and responsibility toward Remothered and its community, who thought this project had been abandoned." Game Director Antonio Cutrona added that Red Nun's Legacy will dig deeper into the series' story while introducing new special skills that expand on the franchise's established gameplay pillars.

The tone leans hard into old-school third-person survival horror, the kind where atmosphere does most of the heavy lifting. A decaying noble residence on the slopes of Mount Etna, once owned by the Ashmann family, sets the stage for a world where hidden symbols, supernatural phenomena and fractured reality close in around the player. The convent itself is where the myth of the Red Nun began, and the game treats that location as both setting and puzzle box, layered with secrets tied to the series' most unsettling figure.

Thirteen months after six young girls vanished in Sicily, a mysterious recording rekindles hope that one mother's daughter might still be alive. Susan, the protagonist, travels to the Ashmann residence against all reason, and what begins as a desperate search becomes something far worse. Family secrets, memory and obsession pull her into a labyrinth where dark powers surface and every step forward carries weight. The game is designed to reward both newcomers picking up the series for the first time and long-time fans who have waited years for this conclusion, with Cutrona describing it as the ending those fans have been anticipating while still being accessible on its own terms.

Stormind positions Red Nun's Legacy as a bold reimagining of the Remothered style rather than a simple continuation. The studio has released the first in a series of three developer diaries exploring the return to the franchise, with Cannata and Cutrona discussing how they're focusing on the series' roots while expanding its gameplay and challenges. For a trilogy that started with a game once named one of the scariest of all time, the final chapter is staking its identity on hypnosis powers and environmental manipulation, mechanics that ask you to look closer at a world designed to punish you for being there at all.
