Sunset Overdrive is an open-world action shooter set in 2027 where a contaminated energy drink has transformed most of Sunset City's population into toxic mutants. For many this would be the end of the world, but for you it's something closer to liberation. Your old boss is dead, your boring job is gone, and the chaos spreading through the streets has become your playground.
Movement defines everything here. You grind along power lines and rails, vault across rooftops, and wall-run through a city that rewards constant motion. Standing still means death, so the game pushes you to treat every surface as a potential path forward. Leap off buildings and rain destruction from above, chain together traversal moves while unleashing weapons that feel pulled from a fever dream. Your arsenal includes dynamite, fireworks, harpoons and acid, unconventional tools for unconventional problems. Each weapon can be collected and upgraded as you carve your way through the mutant hordes.
The city itself bursts with hyper-colorful energy, a post-apocalyptic landscape that trades the usual grey devastation for something vibrant and irreverent. Crazed mutants aren't your only concern either. Homicidal robots and villainous thugs roam these streets, each presenting their own threat as you push through the single-player campaign. The experience extends beyond the main story with two bonus expansions, Mystery of Mooil Rig and Dawn of the Rise of the Fallen Machines, along with an included weapons pack to further expand your destructive options.
Customizable special abilities let you shape your approach to combat while hyper-agility keeps encounters feeling explosive and stylish. Sunset Overdrive rewrites the rules of traditional shooters by making traversal and combat inseparable, delivering an adventure that embraces chaos rather than fighting against it.
