Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is a turn-based strategy game set in the grimdark universe of the 41st Millennium. Its single-player campaign spans twenty missions exploring the aftermath of the Devastation of Baal, following Sergeant Carleon and his allies as they purge a Tyranid infestation on Baal Secundus to preserve the honour of the Blood Angels chapter.
Beyond the campaign, several modes shape how battles unfold. Skirmish lets players pick their faction, choose an opposing force, and fully customize army lists down to individual unit loadouts and hero selections. Three objective types govern these encounters: Exterminatus, Conqueror, and Strategic Command. Planetary Supremacy extends this into a conquest-style campaign where procedurally generated skirmish battles determine control of the planet tile by tile, with strategic resources fuelling army expansion. Daemonic Incursion strips things down to a last-stand scenario where waves of Khornate daemons pour into realspace, and the only objective is survival.
Each faction fields distinctive units. The Blood Angels bring the Sanguinary Priest and Librarian Dreadnought to the field while the Tyranids deploy the Hive Tyrant, drawing from a pool of over sixty abilities and fifty weapons. A Momentum system unique to each faction can push individual units into a Surged state, enabling chains of actions or further ability upgrades within a single turn. Command Points unlock faction-specific air support: the Blood Angels' Stormraven delivers missile barrages while the Tyranid Harpy unleashes its Sonic Screech or scatters deadly Spore Mines across the battlefield. Live multiplayer, asynchronous multiplayer, and hotseat modes round out the ways players can wage war against each other.
