Nacon and Cyanide Studio have announced Warhammer Blood Bowl, a new video game adaptation of Games Workshop's tabletop game, coming to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One in Spring 2026. A free Steam demo featuring the brand new Rumble mode will be available from March 18 to March 25, 2026.
This is turn-based tactical fantasy football set in the Warhammer universe. Players pick a team from one of 26 factions available at launch, including races like Elves, Orcs, and Dwarfs, then customize and develop that team through online competition. The game is strategic and violent, built on the latest official rules of the newest tabletop edition, bringing updated rosters and refreshed rules to the digital pitch. Cyanide Studio frames it plainly: the best player will always find a way to secure victory, no matter the dice rolls or the twists of the match.
The biggest addition is Rumble, a new mode designed around 30-minute matches with smaller teams on a narrower pitch. It's faster and more intense than the standard game while keeping the tactical and brutal DNA of classic Blood Bowl gameplay. The demo lets players try this mode with pre-built teams from five factions: Dark Elves, Lizardmen, Necromantic Horrors, Khorne, and the Old World Alliance, across one PvP mode and one PvE mode. New tutorials are included to help players learn the updated rules.
Two new factions join the roster with this edition: the Tomb Kings and the Bretonnians. Alongside the 26 factions at launch, the game will feature numerous competitions and both solo and multiplayer modes. Cyanide Studio describes this as a natural successor to Blood Bowl 3, building on three years of post-launch development on that previous edition. Players who already own Blood Bowl 3 will receive Warhammer Blood Bowl for free and keep their accounts along with all content they've purchased or unlocked. The game will continue to evolve after launch through a seasonal system and a competitive ecosystem that culminates each year in a World Championship.
